This is an authentic conflict solving process based on an authentic conflict between two students who has had a violent clash in the school ground. You will witness the conflict being sorted out according to the mediation method and you will be carefully guided in the five main phases.
Teachers and students will here be introduced to the widely respected mediation method as a tool to supports conflicting parties to find their own constructive ways out of their conflicts.
The mediation method - with roots back to travelling mediators in ancient China -.has been further developed in the US from where it has been introduced to many countries of the world, broadly applied as negotiation techniques and tools for solving conflicts, equally applied in the schoolyard as in the world of politics – to prevent war.
The word mediation originates from latin medius and means in the middle, which refers to a person, placed in the middle functioning as a neutral person between the contending parties.
This video makes a difference. Here you experience the real mediation process with the authentic dialogue where you may read the real body language and gestures as well.
The conversation is conducted - in Danish fully with English subtitles and spoken English comments - by the Danish school consultant and trained mediator Pelle Johansen. The main phases of the mediation method are illustrated graffically and the spoken comments in English has been prepared by graduate in psycology Susse Humle and the high court attorney, legal advisor and educated mediator in the US Hans Boserup.
